Raw Chocolate Hearts

For St Valentine's day, Marilla and I made these scrumptious raw chocolate cupcakes inspired by the ones we've seen over at This Whole Family.

Here's our adapted recipe (using what we had in the pantry!)

1 cup almond meal
1/2 cup hazelnut meal
2 tbs natural cocoa powder
2 tbs agave syrup
7 pitted dates
pinch of salt
chia seeds

1/2 avocado
1 tbs natural cocoa powder
1 tbs agave syrup

In a food processor, add almond & hazelnut meal, dates, cocoa powder, salt and agave syrup and process until they mixture resembles a thick doughy batter. It might not look to different but when you touch it it will press together.
Line your mould (we used heart shape ice moulds to make mini heart ones) with chia seeds (this will help them to come out easily) and then press the batter into each mould.
Push the cupcakes back out again.

Mix/blend all three ingredients to combine into a creamy icing. Dollop on top of cupcakes. Then sprinkle with natural cocoa powder if desired.

  1. wow - sounds great!!! I have never tried avocado with cocoa powder as an icing....I will have to try it!!!!

    Welcome back!!!

    1. Do try!! I was a little dubious I admit, but I'm won over, such a great consistancy. Thank you, nice to be back! : )
